Warm-up and wax test loop

The Michigan Tech Nordic Training Center

Michigan Tech renovated its trail system in 2002, creating one of the finest cross-country skiing venues in the Midwest. The terrain ranges from flat to challenging. The design, using a series of fingers branching from a core loop, provides race directors with many options when designing a course.

The stadium area features an indoor timing building plus a warming house that will serve as race headquarters. Adjacent to the stadium is a large permanent wax building with ten separate wax rooms.

The trail system, thanks to a dedicated organizing committee and more than 100 volunteers, hosted a successful 2007 U.S. National Championship, as well as a top-notch 2006 Junior Olympics--the national championship for junior skiers (ages 14-19).
